### Hi, Dear Stranger,

I hope this piece of writing finds you well and whole. It seems we’ve become good friends, and I’d like to share my thoughts on respect.

**Respect:**
A strong feeling of approval for somebody or something because of their good qualities or achievements.

**Those Who Have Self-Respect**

People who have self-respect are the ones with manners. Everything they have—the way they live, feel, and act—is related to the extent they respect themselves. They possess manners because they understand what respect is and what it is for. They know that if they are close to someone who does not respect them—their life, the way they talk, the way they think, the way they dress—they will lose their self-respect, their manners, and, most importantly, others in their lives who also possess manners.

These individuals understand that how to talk, where to talk, how to dress, where to go, and with whom to speak are unique decisions that belong solely to them. If anyone else tries to control these aspects, they are no longer free individuals but puppets with no freedom of choice, no self-respect, and surrounded only by selfish creatures who do not value self-respect.

People who have self-respect live their own unique lives, are the happiest, and are surrounded by others who also possess self-respect. They are free souls with manners and are respected by those in their lives.

**People with No Self-Respect**

There may be many things to say about these people, but they do not have my respect, so I will not be discussing them. I think that is more than enough.

**To Conclude**

Respect is single-handedly the most important aspect of one’s life. Once someone loses self-respect, they lose every precious thing, such as honor, manners, others with self-respect, and the respect of others. Since they do not respect themselves, nobody will.

Respect is one of life’s greatest treasures, if not the greatest. What does it all add up to if you do not have it?
